Ndugu Mashaka and Ndugu Mwilima,
I noted with great interest what you gentlemen wrote regarding Babu’ s Miracle Cure in Loliondo.
Yes, we may differ in some areas, BUT, with no doubt, we all love our country, thus why spend our pressing time in this Loliondo issue.
Two days ago, the Ministry responsible came up with official statement regarding ‘ Kikombe cha Babu’- Babu’s cup. We now know, that the ‘Single Cup’ administered by Babu is safe, it is harmless. Our Govt told us.
Further laboratory tests will be conducted for the Babu’s Murigariga tree that he claim is able to treat five chronic deseases ; diabetes, cancer, TB, and AIDS.
What MISSED in the Ministry statement is the fact that while Babu’s miracle cure was declared harmless, people were not told to continue with their medicine after taking Babu’s cup. Here is my great worry. As some of us know, there are confirmed reports, that people are dying after taking Babu’s cup simply because they ceased to take their ARV’s or diabetes medicines.
I believe, at this stage, it would be wrong for people to take the “miracle cure” as a substitute for conventional medical treatment administered in official government and private hospitals or our clinics throughout the country.
The today Citizen’s cartoonist, King Kinya tells it all ; a government official throwing away hospital medicines while rushing to Loliondo!
And the media has a role to play, of correctly and professionally informing Wananchi on this issue Why not some media houses do not take the initiative of conducting independent investigation on ‘ Babu’ miracle Cure? For me, it has been a lot of abrakadabra and no facts. If thousands of sick Tanzanians including politicians have been at Babu’s place , why is it difficult for a single media house to collect medical data and present them to the public? So far, there is none, but plenty of abrakadabra- streets testimonies.
We must , at this stage, until we get laboratory confirmation, make it open, that the Loliondo ‘miracle’ cure can only complement or be given in addition to qualified, specialized medical treatment offered by the hospitals or clinics.
We need to remind the government, to take it’s responsibility, of informing the mass on the above mentioned facts.
