Globally there are lots of advancements in ways ICT is used to improve accessibility, timely and best matched health services according to the patients conditions. With available technology todate, failure to locate a doctor best-matched to your illness, not being able to make an appointment based on doctors availability but also patient's convenient times and long waiting lines, are all very out-fashioned.
Caring Tanzanians in the diaspora should also be able search and book an appointment for their loved ones at home.

As a means to keep up to speed with digital health support systems, an initiative called Daktari Konnect is to be launched in Tanzania and East Africa very soon. All disciplines are included, but the phase 1 of the initiative includes doctors/clinicians-vs.-
Therefore, interested doctors/clinicians are invited to register. Currently more than 40 have done so, but before the service is public announced to Tanzanians, qualified doctors must register first;

Obviously this forum may sound more profitable for those in private clinics, but you are strongly encouraged to also enter your clinic locations and availability times for government hospital too, be it you are seeing fast track patients or normal track.

Tatizo la madaktari wetu wa kitanzania, they are so self-centred. They just think of themselves rather than thinking of patients/ clients in a general population.
ReplyDeleteBooking an appointment by this so called ICT platform is not a way to go to improve health services delivery given the fragmented nature of Tanzania Health System.
There will be technicality involved especially when linking this appointment system with a facility based system. A long waiting queue problem will never be addressed by ICT, it is likely to worsen.
Most patients will suffer particularly those who can not afford to pay for internet services. The Tanzania health care financing mechanism also does not support such type of a system.
In a long run this would be a burden for low income families, and those living below poverty line who are about 80% of the population.
I expected Tanzania doctors to come up with solutions to improve efficiency and equity in health services delivery, not something like this.
Great Stuff na hongereni coming up with this idea and good use of ICT...Hope will look and work well on mobile as well as vast majority of us access internet via mobile...Once enough doctors registered please go heavy in awareness campaign/marketing to targeted clients. Pamoja na changamoto zote, naona mfumo huu utasaidia kwa upande flani, na ku-boost productivity ya mtu binafsi lakini hata waajiri pia. There are so many good doctors out there who are capable, but not accessible to public, na wala hakuna mtu anajua awapataje. Cha msingi wadau hawa wahakikishe pia mtu anaweza akapiga simu kufanya booking na wamsaidie hivyo. Nimetuma swali kwenye facebook yao wamesema swala hilo liko kwenye mpango na wakienda hewani hiyo huduma itakuwepo. Hata sms, email, na kutembelea ofisi yao ambayo iko Victoria inawezekana pia.
