ReplyDeleteI am British and have toured Tanzania twice. It is a beautiful country with its beautiful national parks. Tourists don't really care whether Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Serengeti are in Kenya or Tanzania. We have always known them to be part of our Eastern Africa experience. Although we came through Kenya, we have always paid Visa to enter Tanzania in order to visit Serengeti and climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. So we as tourists know exactly in which country Mt. Kilimanjaro is and never cared much.
ReplyDeleteWe all know Tanzania never marketed its tourist attraction globally and it should actually be very thankful to Kenya since most of the tourists who visit Tanzania would have learnt more about Tanzania's attractions when touring Kenya. You are to blame yourself and nobody else, not Kenya either. Instead of spending money in advertising to the public the obvious fact that Mt. Kilimanjaro is in Tanzania, I think the money can be well spent in attracting tourism. Saying "Mt. Kilimanjaro can only be climbed from Tanzania" is never an attraction or marketing language, it is utterly arrogance. Until such time Tanzania can learn to do things properly, they will always find someone successful like Kenya to blame. By the way, you can name your new Airlines Masai Mara or Lake Victoria, or even Nairobi, these common names like the Kilimanjaro and Ngorongoro are never copy-writted or patented globally.
