The African-American celebrity community came out in full support of Africa Saturday, April 19.

Actress Vivica A. Fox along with the Leon H. Sullivan Foundation hosted the Girlfriends Brunch for Africa, at her Los Angeles home to join the conversation on Africa.

The brunch was geared to garner celebrity support and encourage participation in the upcoming Leon Sullivan Summit being held in Arusha, Tanzania June 2-6th.

Attendees included Essence Atkins (Deliver us from Eva, Half & Half), producer Tracey Edmonds, Jill Marie Jones (Girlfriends),Tamala Jones (Daddy Day Camp), Regina King (24, Enemy of the State, Miss Congeniality 2, Ray, Legally Blonde 2, Jerry Maguire), Lela Rochon (Waiting to Exhale), Raven Symone (That’s So Raven), Terri Vaughn (Steve Harvey Show) and Kim Whitley (College Road Trip) among others.

In addition, several important issues were discussed, including organizing a celebrity contingency to visit Africa to participate in some of the projects established by the Foundation.

“The support and warmth we received from the African American Hollywood community was overwhelming,” stated Hope Masters.

“Everyone came out in support of Vivica and to support our cause. This brunch was just the beginning of what’s to come in getting our community to play an active role in Africa. I look forward to working with these beautiful women during this year’s Summit and in the future.”
