Each One Teach One is an initiative started by the UBA Foundation with the purpose of All UBA staff to get an opportunity to give back to the community in their own way. The initiative aims at helping under the privileged and young children, get vocational skills that may result in them making money.

UBA Tanzania through the UBA Foundation participated for the Each One, Teach One Initiative for youths in Africa. Through Each One Teach One initiative UBA staff voluntarily commit their time to their communities, teaching youth’s various activities such as foreign languages, photography, fashion design, martial arts, music and much more.
UBA Tanzania staff showing members of Mshikamano group from Yombo Vituka in Dar es salaam how to make buns (maandazi in Swahili, common bites used for breakfast and dinner) but these ones were with different taste with eggs, milk and a little flavour of vanilla essence teaching skills that may give them a head start in life.
The UBA Foundation is an arm of the bank which carries out some of the institution’s Corporate Social Responsibility. It was formed in 2011 and had given back to society part of its profits by way of helping the less privileged and vulnerable.

The campaign of the foundation is ‘each one, teach one’ geared towards promoting human capacity development and effectively giving back to society. Being in the country for over 9 years now and desirous of doing more they decided to go a step further, thereby introducing the new campaign, which involves giving skills training to young people with the aim of making them self-reliant.
These skills have the potential of turning the participant into entrepreneur, especially as there is widespread demand for make-up skills, entrepreneurship, cooking skills in the society and photography. They could use the training to later open businesses on their own, eventually empowering them economically.

This intellectual capacity building cannot be financially quantified, when one considers the result of this capacity building on the individual. It is a contribution to humanity. UBA is not only focused in Dar es salaam and Dodoma, but has plans to extend similar programs to other parts of the country. UBA has been in the country for 9 years now and has been responding positively in its Corporate Social Responsibility.
