called Enhanced LTE (eLTE) when he visited the company’s booth during a
two-day Tanzania Diaspora Initiative conference held in Dar es Salaam

HUAWEI Technologies (T) Limited, a leading global
information and communications Technology (ICT) company, has introduced
in the Tanzania market a new technology called enhanced LTE, which will
boost the government’s anti-poaching campaign as well as critical
communication and video trunking or video surveillance for enterprises.
Speaking during a two-day Tanzania Diaspora Initiative
conference held in Dar es Salaam recently, Huawei Technologies Channel
Executive, Mr. Moses Hella said the new device enables fast restoration
of communication at critical times, having a video trunking
(WALKI-VIDEO) for quick and accurate dispatch decision making, which can
be effective in the current Tanzania anti-poaching campaign.
“We have introduced into the Tanzania market our latest
technology called ‘enhanced LTE’ which is a state of the art mobile
solution for critical communication as well as mobile video surveillance
especially in transporting of important goods or people.
“With this device, problems like illegal poaching in the
country can be minimized if not eradicated. We believe that by
installing this device in areas where illegal poaching is rampant will
boost the ability of game wardens to monitor and track activities going
on in the game parks/national reserves.
“Installing wireless cameras and deploying mobile
surveillance system in different national game reserves will greatly
support the government’s anti-poaching campaign,” said Mr. Hella.
He reiterated that the eLTE technology has been deployed in
more than 30 countries mostly in Armies, Police, Power Grids, Ports,
Airports, Oil and Gas fields as well as Security Companies. Mr. Hella said that Huawei being the main sponsor of the
fast Diaspora conference; it helped the company showcasing several other
latest technologies such as smart-phones, modems and home devices that
helps Tanzanians to catch up with technological advancement.
“We have also introduced our latest smart phone called
Ascend P7 which is an outstanding artwork with 5.00-inch 1080x1920 High
Definition display powered by 1.8GHz processor alongside 2GB RAM and
13-megapixel rear camera, the gadget was also handed over to the
President who visited our Huawei booth making him to be among the
first Huawei Ascend P7 user in Tanzania,” he added.
Commenting on Huawei’s eLTE technology President Jakaya
Kikwete said; “this is good technology, did you show to Kova, the
Special Zone Police Commander?”
Meanwhile, during the meeting the president encouraged the
Tanzania Diaspora to bring technologies in Tanzania. The President
urged for the Tanzania Diaspora to bring technologies in Tanzania. He
said "Today Huawei gave me their latest smart phone P7, this shows
Huawei is keeping up with competition and innovations, so Diaspora have
to cooperate with these giants to bring technologies in Tanzania."
Likewise, Mr. Hella mentioned that Huawei for more than ten
years in Tanzania has been working hand in hand with the community to
bridge the digital gap through ICT training to subcontractors and
telecom operators.
“We hope we can cooperate further with the Government and
Diaspora society in bridging digital gap in Tanzania especially in the
area of capacity building,” he said.
