ReplyDeleteThe Swede — now being dubbed the new Anders Frisk — gifted Steven Gerrard an injury-time leveller against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, despite a soft challenge from Mariano Pernia.
And he allegedly told Swedish TV station SVT after the game: “From my angle, I am not convinced that it is a penalty but according to UEFA rules I’m not allowed to make any comment on specific match incidents.”
The decision rescued Liverpool from a home defeat and prevented the Spaniards from automatically qualifying for the last 16.

Hansson seemed to make his decision after the linesman flagged.
But defender Pernia blasted: “When we were complaining the linesman apologised to me for giving it.
"That was when there was still time to take a step back from giving a wrong decision but he wouldn’t do that.
“He actually said to me ‘sorry, sorry’. This makes you feel like there is a campaign against us because UEFA have closed our ground for one game, banned our coach from the touchline and now they’ve given a non-existent penalty to Liverpool.”
“I call it non-existent because Gerrard threw himself on top of me. It should have been our foul.”
Hansson is now being compared to Swedish official Frisk, who famously quit in 2005 after receiving death threats from Chelsea fans for sending off Didier Drogba in a clash with Barcelona.
